We have established our library afresh with a collection of some selected books and periodicals. There are some donated books also available in the library to enrich its collection. Books are arranged systematically in steel racks to locate them easily. We follow open access system in the library. It has a beautifully designed building and infrastructure with the provision of future extension.
A library is a place where documentary and non-documentary sources of information are kept preserved in an organized manner for the dissemination of information among the users. It also contributes in the fulfillment of goals and objectives of its parent institution. The library of Punjab Urdu Academy, Malerkotla, also supplements the objectives of its parent institution. The core objective of the Punjab Urdu Academy is the promotion of Urdu language and Urdu literature especially among the people of Punjab as well as the people of India. However, the library of PUA is in its initial stage but it is growing rapidly with the aim of providing better, fast and modern services to its users. It is just like a public library where anyone from public can visit and even can become its member by fulfilling some membership formalities and abiding by its rules. The library also provides reading room facility to its users and even to non-users also. The students who do not have study atmosphere at their homes can avail this facility during library hours free of cost.
We are moving ahead very enthusiastically to pace with the technologically advanced world with a future vision of library automation and networking and even digitization of library.
